The idea is simple. To help support the island’s sustainable fisheries each household tries to spend £5 a week on local sustainably caught fish.
Spend £5 for 9 by 5 (Jersey)
There is a real potential for Jersey to become a model of a small scale sustainable fishery. However the fishery is under extreme pressure due to the collapse of exports over the last year.
We can help sustain the effort and shift towards a sustainable ocean around Jersey by supporting our fishermen during this time and choosing to buy sustainable. Ask your local fishermen or fishmonger where the fish is from and how it is caught.
By making an effort to buy local sustainably caught fish instead of pre packaged farm fish you are making a choice to invest in the islands future.
